Famous Dave’s of America Inc. on Monday named Dexter Newman the company’s new chief financial officer.
Newman most recently was a vice president and division CFO at Bloomin’ Brands Inc., the 1,400-unit casual-dining operator. He also held several positions with the electronics retailer Best Buy, which is based in Minneapolis, the same hometown as Famous Dave’s.
“We are excited to include Dexter in Famous Dave’s talented new leadership team,” Famous Dave’s CEO Adam Wright said in a statement. “He brings extensive senior executive-level experience, operational and financial discipline and has a long-time passion for the brand. Dexter has an excellent track record with a best-in-class restaurant operator.”
Newman’s appointment is effective Monday. He replaces Richard Pawlowski, who left to spend more time with his family after spending two years commuting between his California home and Minneapolis.
“Richard Pawlowski … joined the company shortly after a previous leadership and strategy change,” Wright said. “Richard has been an effective leader during a time of significant transition.”
