Starbucks upgrades outlook on strong 3Q

Company reports positive same-store sales in all regions

Starbucks Corp. upgraded its outlook for the year on Thursday after reporting a strong third quarter that showed positive same-store sales in all regions. For the quarter ended June 30, U.S. locations recorded a same-store sales increase of 9 percent, reflecting a 7-percent increase in transactions and a 2-percent increase in average ticket, which drove a 9-percent same-store sales increase for the Americas region overall. The Seattle-based company ended the quarter with 19,209 locations worldwide, including 13,153 in the Americas.
 

NET INCOME

Result: $417.8 million, or 55 cents per share
% Increase: 25.4% (from $333.1 million, or 43 cents per share)

REVENUE

Result: $3.7 billion
% Increase: 13.3% (from $3.3 billion)

SAME-STORE SALES

% Increase: 8% systemwide
