President of Kahala franchising arm resigns

SCOTTSDALE Ariz. Chris Prasifka has resigned as president of Kahala Franchise Corp. just four months after being promoted to the post.

Spokeswoman Kate Guess said Prasifka’s resignation was due to personal matters and that the position was “not being refilled at this time.” Kahala Franchise Corp. is the franchising division of Kahala Corp., which includes such concepts as Blimpie, Cold Stone Creamery and Cereality.

Prasifka was named president of Kahala Franchise Corp. in April. Before joining Kahala Corp. in October 2007 as executive vice president, Prasifka had been senior vice president of franchise operations and strategic development for the Compass Group’s Canteen division. He also had worked with the Carvel, Cinnabon, Seattle’s Best Coffee, Mrs. Fields and TCBY brands.

Guess said Kahala Corp.’s executive team was being expanded and would advise all the company’s brands and franchise systems. The executive team reports to Kevin Blackwell, Kahala’s chairman and chief executive.

Other Kahala concepts include Frullati Cafe & Bakery, Great Steak & Potato Co., Johnnie’s New York Pizzeria, NRgize Lifestyle Cafe, Ranch1, Rollerz, Samurai Sam’s Teriyaki Grill, Surf City Squeeze and Taco Time.
