McDonald’s lured more customers to its restaurants last quarter, but that didn’t translate into stronger sales. The fast-food giant’s same-store sales declined 1.4% in the U.S. last quarter, while traffic increased slightly.
Speaking of McDonald’s, the chain’s future involves more chicken and more beverages. Company executives on Monday reiterated plans to reintroduce the Snack Wrap this year, along with chicken tenders.
Chick-fil-A is testing reusable drink caddies. The company began piloting solutions after two owner/operators began looking for ways to save on increasing paper costs while also cutting down on paper waste.
Restaurants say tech is making them more efficient, but not always more profitable. According to the National Restaurant Association’s state of the industry report, 69% of operators who added tech in the past 2-3 years say it has made their restaurants more efficient and productive.
