Red Mango Inc., parent company to the 132-unit frozen-yogurt chain, named Barry M. Barron chief executive Monday, succeeding founder Dan Kim, who remains as chief concept officer.
Barron most recently was chief operating officer of Ace Cash Express, a 1,800-unit Dallas-based chain, and previously worked six years with Papa John’s International and 10 years with Pizza Hut.
The company said Kim, who founded Red Mango in 2007, would focus on product innovation, social-media initiatives and brand marketing.
John Antioco, chairman of Red Mango, said in a statement: “Barry’s extensive background in store development and operations is perfectly suited to continuing the rapid pace of our national and international expansion through franchising.”
Barron added that “now is the perfect time to accelerate the company's growth on both national and international levels."
Fouad Bashour, a director with Red Mango and a partner in CIC Partners LP, the Dallas private-equity firm involved in a buyout of the company in 2009, said, “CIC Partners has enjoyed a long history with Barry. He was instrumental in growing the ACE brand and creating value for its shareholders and we look forward to similar results from Red Mango.”
