Chain starts offering new slushie line in 6,000 locations

This week, McDonald’s Corp. introduced a new line of Minute Maid Slushies in 6,000 locations in the Midwest and South.

The new line is clearly aimed at Sonic Corp., the Oklahoma City-based drive-in chain that specializes in beverages and boasts more than a million different drink and slush combinations.

McDonald’s flavors include orangeade, fruit punch, and cherry limeade. The latter flavor happens to be a signature flavor for Sonic.

Among the markets where the slushies are appearing: Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, Michigan and Ohio. The slushies will use a blend of fruit juice and ice.
