T.G.I. Friday’s is the first large casual-dining chain to offer an application that allows guests to pay checks via their smartphone. The free iPhone and Android My Friday’s Tab app lets customers open tabs, track them and close them out. The pay-at-table function is offered at about 300 of Friday’s more than 900 restaurants. The mobile payment function is powered by Austin, Texas-based Tabbedout and was developed by Carlson IT, Illume Mobile and Click Here Inc., a division of Friday’s ad agency, The Richards Group of Dallas. Trey Hall, chief marketing officer for the Carrollton, Texas-based chain, recently discussed the app with Nation’s Restaurant News.
