Michael Slavin has been named director of culinary at Houlihan’s Restaurants Inc., the company said Tuesday.
Slavin will oversee product innovation at the 76-unit namesake Houlihan’s chain, as well five-unit J. Gilbert’s Wood-Fired Steaks & Seafood and four-unit Bristol Seafood Grill.
The position has been vacant for the past year.
Most recently, Slavin was corporate executive chef of product development and menu innovation for Applebee’s Services Inc., a position he held for more than five years, for which he was responsible for ideating 200 to 300 menu items annually.
Earlier, he was director of operations and creative partner at BRGR Kitchen + Bar in Kansas City, and before that he worked for Aramark Sports and Entertainment as executive chef for the Kansas City Royals baseball team and Kauffman Stadium, their home field.
Houlihan’s is based in Leawood, Kan.
