Having grown up in the East End of London during the 1950s and ’60s, I have seen firsthand how parts of London have been transformed over the years.

The area — which was once the home of notorious gangsters the Kray twins — now boasts Canary Wharf, home of many of the world’s largest companies and some of the capital’s most expensive real estate, as well as providing the setting for last year’s Summer Olympic Games.
