Panera will still maintain its own delivery driver fleet

Panera Bread — which has offered in-house delivery since 2016 — announced the bakery/café chain’s first foray into third-party delivery through partnerships with DoorDash, GrubHub, and Uber Eats starting this August. But even as the JAB Holding Co. company expands delivery capability for guests, Panera clarified that they will be maintaining their own fleet of delivery drivers, both for quality control and to cut down on costs for third-party delivery drivers, who can sometimes take cuts of up to 30%.

Panera Bread said that third-party delivery through these three major companies will be available at a majority of the 1,600 units systemwide that already offer delivery (or a little more than two-thirds of total units). Delivery sales curre...
