Pieology Pizzeria has named Shawn Thompson as CEO, the company announced Wednesday.

Thompson succeeds Gregg Imamoto, who stepped down last year to head U.S. operations for Marugame Udon.

Of Thompson’s appointment, Carl Chang, founder of Pieology, said in a statement: “We are very enthusiastic about his leadership in stewarding the evolution and growth of Pieology into the new economic environment we now live.”

Thompson most recently was responsible for more than 2,500 Supercuts locations in North America and the United Kingdom.  He previously served eight years with RBI, serving in a variety of roles with Burger King, Tim Hortons and the parent company.

“I couldn’t be happier to lead Pieology into its next phase of growth,” Thompson said. “Carl created an amazing brand, and I look forward to bringing it to the rest of the world.”

Pieology, founded in 2011, has 130 restaurants.
