Zaxby's is bringing three of its sauces into retail.

Zaxby’s is the latest chain to extend its sauces into retail

Zaxby’s will sell three of its signature sauces, including Zax Sauce, in grocery stores throughout the South and on Amazon.com.

We’ve covered the accelerating QSR sauce battle throughout the past couple of years – a trend that has been driven by consumer demand. Technomic’s Flavor Consumer Trend Report finds that 34% of consumers consider what sauces and condiments are available when deciding what restaurants to visit, for instance.

Now, that sauce battle seems to be extending to supermarket shelves. Zaxby’s, an Atlanta-based chain with about 950 locations, announced today it will bring three of its 12 signature sauces to local and national retailers for the first time. In doing so, it will join brands like Olive Garden, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chick-fil-A and Subway that have recently bottled their dressings and sauces for grocery shoppers. The extension into retail not only generates a new revenue stream, it also adds brand awareness as these concepts grow into new markets. Zaxby’s s retail lineup includes:

  • Zax Sauce: A secret creamy and tangy recipe featuring a blend of signature spices.
  • Spicy Zax Sauce: A a twist on the signature Zax Sauce with some added heat.
  • Tongue Torch Sauce: Featuring aged peppers, garlic, and mustard seeds.

Each sauce is available in 16-ounce plastic bottles this month in Walmart, Kroger, and Winn Dixie locations throughout the South and Southeast. They are also available via Amazon.com. The suggested retail price is $4.48 to $4.98 per bottle, depending on market.
