Pizza Hut continued to expand its limited-time offers with the introduction Monday of a new Stuffed Garlic Knots Pizza.

The Plano, Texas-based division of Yum! Brands Inc. said the large one-topping pizza, priced at $12.99, features 16 cheese-stuffed garlic knots on the crust, as well as two cups of marinara sauce for dipping.

“We always want every pizza night to feel like a special occasion,” Jared Drinkwater, Pizza Hut vice president of marketing, said in a statement. “By combining a humungous appetizer portion of 16 cheese-stuffed garlic knots with a great-tasting, large Pizza Hut pizza, we have created the Stuffed Garlic Knots Pizza. Now, with an appetizer and pizza all in one, our customers have the unique ability to make a night in feel like a night out.”

Wiley Bates III, Pizza Hut global executive chef, gave a behind-the-scenes look of the new pizza in a Periscope live stream Monday morning, brushing the knots with garlic sauce and sprinkling them with parsley and Parmesan.

“You have an appetizer and pizza combined together,” Bates said. “How awesome is that?”

Garlic knots are commonly offered at casual-dining restaurants, but not often at quick-service eateries, he said.

Bates said the pizza is available for only a limited time, but in response to questions he suggested that Pizza Hut might consider offering the garlic knots separately in the future.

The garlic knot pizza is the latest in a number of special offers Pizza Hut has introduced over the past six months.

In November, the chain introduced a three-level Triple Treat Box for the holidays that included separate drawers for pizza, breadsticks and desserts. Packaged in a miniature cardboard cabinet, the Triple Treat featured two medium one-topping pizzas, breadsticks and a chocolate chip cookie cut into eight slices, priced at $19.99.

Earlier this month, Pizza Hut debuted a new “$5 Flavor Menu” aimed at providing customers with more value options.

Pizza Hut has more than 15,600 restaurants in 97 countries.
