Every major city has one: A collection of restaurants that sit under a shared umbrella, a restaurant group that leans into the parent company as much for name-brand recognition as for operational efficiencies.
As these multi-concept restaurant groups aren’t chains and by and large are not household names, it’s easy to forget how big some of them are — in some cases comprising hundreds of millions in sales.
Last year, NRN introduced you to the nation’s 25 biggest groups. This year, we’re going bigger — way bigger. With help from our partners at Technomic, we’ve identified 125 of the biggest restaurant groups in the country, breaking down the list by the four U.S. regions as identified by the Census Bureau: Northeast, South, Midwest, and West. Meet them below, and revisit the list throughout the year as we endeavor to profile all 125.
