Pizza Hut is making a big play for football fans this fall with a container that turns into a finger-football gridiron.

The Plano, Texas-based division of Yum! Brands Inc. debuts the new box today with any medium pizza order. The box includes a printed flick football playing field on the top of the carton, goal posts, a scorecard and punch-out paper footballs.

The football-themed delivery container follows on the heels of Pizza Hut’s taboret-like Triple Treat three-drawer box for the holidays in November 2015 that was reprised that in June with a summer-themed box.

“We know our fans enjoy a little competition, and we’re happy to provide a platform that lets them get in on the game in a whole new way while watching their favorite team,” said David Timm, Pizza Hut chief marketing officer, in a statement.

“The box brings some excitement back to the classic flick football game,” Timm added, “and we are proud to bring some entertainment to the table along with our $5 Flavor Menu.”

Pizza Hut is also sponsoring the “Flick Football Challenge,” which invites fans to share videos of their paper football abilities for a chance to win free pizza from the $5 Flavor Menu.

Participants can post videos of their box-top football prowess on Twitter, tagging @PizzaHut and using the hashtag #PizzaHutHut. The brand “will select weekly winners based upon different challenges including longest flick, most consecutive made flicks, most creative flick, among others,” the company said.

To promote the challenge, Pizza Hut has enlisted Dan Bailey, placekicker with the Dallas Cowboys, to promote the football-themed box.

“As a professional football kicker, I know a thing or two about the pressure that comes with trying to put one through the uprights when the game is on the line,” said Bailey in a statement.

Pizza Hut has more than 15,600 restaurants in more than 95 nations.
