Kona Grill's Thai beef noddle salad weighs in at 500 calories |
Only the number of lower-calorie items, not the waistlines, are expanding at Kona Grill Inc.
The Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Kona Grill introduced its “Get the Skinny” menu in May 2010. It is now expanding the variety of dishes offered this month by launching a “Slim Chance” menu, which includes four entrees that have no more than 500 calories and three cocktails at less than 85 calories each.
“We wanted to grow this menu to include even more items for our calorie-conscious guests,” said Zach Bredemann, Kona’s executive chef.
Last year's menu featured three sushi entrees at 200 or fewer calories and three cocktails at 100 or fewer calories.
The new menu offers Thai beef noodle salad at 500 calories, $14.50, scallop and white fish sashimi at 120 calories, $11, seared scallops at 460 calories, $21, and an ahi-salmon cucumber roll at 160 calories, $14. The new cocktails range from 34 calories to 76 calories. They are priced between $6.50 and $7.
