Trending: Taco Bell unveils a drag brunch tour across the U.S.

This week on Nation’s Restaurant News, Taco Bell announced it would partner with drag performer Kay Sedia for drag brunches across the country. Each show will feature kings and queens who will lip synch on stage at Cantinas in five cities across the U.S. from May 1 through June 26.

“We understand the importance of creating safe spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community and are thrilled to provide a unique experience that spotlights and celebrates the wonderful art form of drag and its influence in culture with their chosen families,” said Sean Tresvant, global chief brand officer at Taco Bell.

Also this week, Chipotle said turnover skyrocketed in 2021, despite investments in people. Because of the tight labor market in 2021, Chipotle experienced dramatic increases in turnover among all workers, and the chain said it is working hard to normalize those numbers. Among hourly workers, for example, Chipotle reported a turnover rate of 194% in 2021, up from 141% the prior year. Among salaried managers, turnover was 43%, compared with 31% in 2020. Field leaders and manager saw 21% turnover in 2021, versus 16% the prior year. And even corporate staff turnover nearly doubled to 21% in 2021, compared with 12% in 2020.
