Tilted Kilt launches new burger menu

Casual-dining chain reformulates burger and adds appetizers, sandwiches and entrées

IHOP isn’t the only chain to reformulate its burgers recently. Casual-dining chain Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery also has leaned into the country’s favorite entrée with a new menu that highlights its new, upgraded burgers.

The chain based in Tempe, Ariz., is now using never-frozen patties and has shifted from a square brioche bun to a softer round one. Both the old and new buns come from Rotella’s Italian Bakery.

Additionally, Ron Lynch, president of the chain with nearly 50 locations in the United States and Canada, said the new menu offered more options for people who wanted their food to go.

“We know today’s diner likes to have the option about where they eat and what they eat, so we wanted to ensure our guests have carryout options and access to variety of mouthwatering dishes,” he said in a press release announcing the new menu.

He also indicated an interested in providing more catering.

“Our goal is to meet the growing demand of both families and businesses looking to simplify needs by offering affordable, yet delicious options the entire guest list will enjoy,” he said.

Prices of the new items vary by location, but among the new burger builds are:

Wicked Boston Burger: A burger with Samuel Adams Boston Lager onion relish and fry sauce as well as maple pepper bacon, American cheese, lettuce, tomato and red onion

Chili Cheeseburger: Topped with beef chili, melted cheddar Jack cheese and panko-crusted onion rings

Jalapeño Pepper Jack: With grilled jalapeños, pepper Jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion and spicy Kilt Burner mayonnaise

The Pub Double: Two quarter-pound patties and two slices of American cheese along with Samuel Adams fry sauce, lettuce, tomato and red onion

Holy Guacamole: Topped with pepper Jack cheese, guacamole, lettuce, tomato and red onion

A.1. Smokehouse: With provolone, bacon, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, red onion and creamy A.1. sauce

Also new to the menu are Spicy Pickle Fries, batter-fried pickle spears with cayenne ranch dipping sauce.

The chain also expanded its potato tots section with Disco tots, dressed in brown gravy, Fat Tire Ale beer cheese sauce and cheddar Jack cheese, as well as Buffalo Chicken tots with Buffalo sauce-coated chicken, blue cheese crumbles, green onions and ranch dressing.

Other new appetizers include meatballs in marinara sauce topped with provolone and Parmesan cheeses and bacon & cream cheese jalapeño poppers.

Among the new entrées are fried chicken — the breast topped with country gravy and served with mashed potatoes, garlic green beans and garlic bread — and Chicken Parmesan served with cavatappi pasta in spinach artichoke dip.

There’s also a new meat loaf, served on a thick slice of sourdough toast and topped with mashed red potatoes, brown gravy, onion tangles and a side of garlic green beans.

The chain added two new turkey sandwich options — a Reuben and a club wrap. The latter has pepper Jack cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato and Kilt Burner mayo, wrapped in a jalapeño cheese tortilla.

Tilted Kilt also added a sandwich version of Chicken Cordon Bleu. The Blue Ribbon Chicken. Sandwich is breaded and fried chicken breast with sliced ham and Swiss cheese on a toasted brioche bun with honey mustard, lettuce, tomato and red onion.
