HMSHost names Sarah Naqvi CIO

Position had been vacant since December 2011

Sarah Naqvi has been promoted from vice president of information technology to chief information officer at HMSHost, the airport-and-motorways food and retail services contractor said Wednesday.

Naqvi, who joined the Bethesda, Md.-based company in 1999 after holding IT positions at National Wildlife Federation, GE Information Services and Bell Atlantic, will oversee all information systems for North America. She fills a CIO post that had been vacant since the December 2011 departure of Martyn Holland, who held the position for 14 years.

HMSHost officials cited Naqvi’s success at positioning the IT department as a strategic business partner to the company’s other departments. They also noted her successful collaboration with local airport authorities in identifying and implementing infrastructure and technology systems in the Hyderabad and Bangalore airports when the contractor expanded its presence in Asia.

“Sarah’s IT expertise has enriched HMSHost’s operations significantly, helping to secure the company’s position as the leader in airport and motorway dining,” said Tom Fricke, HMSHost president and chief executive.

HMSHost operates in more than 100 airports around the globe, including the 20 busiest airports in North America, as well as along some motorways. The company, which is owned by Italy’s Autgorill SpA, said it has annual sales in excess of $2.7 billion and reported 2012 U.S. foodservice sales of $1.9 billion.
