Tava Indian Kitchen, a three-unit fast-casual concept, has appointed Jeremy Morgan as chief executive officer.

Morgan previously served as senior vice president of marketing and consumer insights at Denver-based Smashburger. Already a board member at Tava, he joins the San Francisco-based chain as CEO at a time when the brand is poised for rapid growth.

All three of Tava’s existing locations are in the San Francisco Bay area, but the company plans to build 12 more locations over the next two years, moving into new markets in 2015 — though the company was not specific about location.

Founded in 2011, Tava is a build-your-own meal concept with Indian cuisine. Guests can choose between a roti wrap, known as a “burroti,” a rice bowl or salad bowl, then add a selection of proteins, tikka or daal sauce, vegetables and chutneys.

Ingredients are all natural and dishes are made to order. Online ordering and catering is also available.

In a statement, Morgan said, “I love the fact that Tava serves delicious Indian food in a fast-casual environment. Customers can’t seem to get enough of the incredible flavors, and Tava is poised to be a game changer with its healthy, innovative menu.”

Vijay Brihmadesam, Tava’s co-founder and chairman, said in a statement, “We are thrilled to have Jeremy joining us as CEO to lead the growth of Tava. He has been a valued member of the board of directors, and we are confident he is the right executive to lead Tava into its next chapter.”
