This week on Nation's Restaurant News the top story was KFC U.S. headquarters are relocating from Kentucky to Texas. Yum Brands, parent company of KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and Habit Burger & Grill, announced on Feb. 18 plans to designate two brand headquarters in the United States — one in Plano, Texas, and one in Irvine, Calif.

The decision will relocate the KFC U.S. corporate headquarters from Louisville, Ky., to the Plano office, where the KFC and Pizza Hut Global teams currently exist. Taco Bell and Habit Burger & Grill will remain in Irvine, Calif.

In other news, inspired by the concept’s success internationally, Dine Brands has been planning to bring its dual-branded IHOP/Applebee’s model to the U.S. for about a year now. That plan came to fruition last week with the grand opening of the IHOP/Applebee’s restaurant in Seguin, Texas, just outside of San Antonio in partnership with franchisee Ramzi Hakim Group.

Also, Taco Bell and New York-based dessert company Milk Bar have launched the new Milk Bar Birthday Cake Churros at restaurants nationwide for a limited time. The warm, crispy churros are filled with birthday cake frosting and topped with pink confetti sprinkles and are available for $2.99 for two churros or $1.99 for one while supplies last.
