The Wendy’s Co. will debut a new Peppermint Frosty on Nov. 15 for a limited time through the holiday season.

The Dublin, Ohio-based burger brand will take over the Vanilla Frosty machines, as it did earlier in the year with the Strawberry Frosty flavor. Vanilla will return with the existing chocolate at the end of the LTO, the brand’s culinary team said.

John Li, Wendy’s vice president of culinary innovation, said on a webinar Tuesday that the Frosty platform is ripe for new flavors that build “on the base of chocolate and vanilla.”

The brand has had limited tests of such Frosty flavors as Bananas Foster, Birthday Cake, Blue Raspberry and Pickle, Li said.

Becky Davis, Wendy’s director of culinary innovation, added that the Frosty flavors “create excitement” and the brand gets credit for offering something unusual.

Along with the peppermint flavor introduction, Wendy’s is bringing back its Frosty Key Tags, which can be purchased Nov. 21 through Jan. 29. The $2 key tags provide 365 days of free Jr. Frosty treats, and proceeds from the sale support the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.

Prices for the Peppermint Frosty will start at $2.19 in most locations.

“Wendy’s is helping to make the most wonderful time of the year even sweeter by introducing an all-new Peppermint Frosty to enjoy during the holidays,” said Carl Loredo, Wendy’s U.S. chief marketing officer, in a statement.

“From this summer’s break-out hit, Strawberry Frosty, and now with our Peppermint Frosty, our fans can always count on Wendy’s to deliver the most craveable, iconic seasonal flavors,” Loredo said.

Wendy's, founded in 1969, has about 7,000 restaurants worldwide.
