Former Yum Brands exec will lead the casual-dining operator’s overseas growth

Bloomin' Brands Inc. has named Pat Murtha executive vice president and president of Bloomin' Brands International, effective Nov. 11, the company said this week.

Murtha, a former chief operating officer with Yum! Brands Inc., will be responsible for developing and implementing Bloomin’s international growth.

“International development will continue to be a key driver of our long-term growth strategy,” Elizabeth Smith, Bloomin’ Brands chairman and chief executive, said in a statement.

Bloomin’ Brands operates the Outback Steakhouse, Bonefish Grill, Carrabba's Italian Grill, Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar, and Roy's casual-dining chains.

“This unique portfolio of brands is ideal for international expansion,” Murtha said.

Prior to joining Bloomin' Brands, Murtha held leadership roles at Yum Brands, where he spent 17 years in a variety of positions with the KFC, Pizza Hut and international divisions.

Bloomin' Brands owns and operates nearly 1,500 restaurants in 48 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and 21 nations, some of which are franchised or joint ventures.
