Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants Inc. has named Brian Maupin to the newly created position of chief information officer, the company said Thursday.

The Dallas-based casual-dining operator said Maupin, a former AT&T executive, would lead the 300-unit chain’s technology innovations and advanced analytical techniques.

Dickey’s president and chief executive Roland Dickey, Jr., said in a statement that Maupin “shares my passion for innovation and growth, and as our new CIO, he will leverage technology to create new opportunities for customers and franchisees.”

Dickey’s led Nation’s Restaurant News’ recent Second 100 census ranking for systemwide growth in sales, increasing about 57 percent over the prior year to $259 million in the May 2012-ended fiscal year.
