Dunkin Brands Group Inc. has tapped 16-year company veteran John Varughese to lead business outside the U.S. as its new senior vice president international, the parent of Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins said Monday.

Varughese, who previously was vice president international, replaces Dunkin’ Brands chairman Nigel Travis, who had served as interim head of international for nine months. Travis continues in his current role as chairman of the board of directors.

"John is a seasoned international retail executive with a deep understanding of both the Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin' brands and the countries we serve," Hoffmann said in a statement.  "His appointment as the head of our international business enables us to seamlessly continue our support of franchisees and licensees and strategically grow our two brands outside the U.S."

Prior to holding his vice president position international position, Varughese was a managing director of Dunkin’s international division. Under his leadership, the company expanded both licensed retail product availability and home delivery of Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins’ brands in international markets, the company said. He also helped Dunkin’ successfully launch new international store designs at both Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins brands, and facilitated 150 new store openings in 10 countries around the world

Both Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins have unveiled new “Next Gen” store designs in 2018. Stateside, the new Dunkin’ stores feature mobile pickup technology, new Bluetooth-activated drive-thru lanes for mobile orders, and a row of cold-brew coffee taps while the Baskin Robbins stores feature new hand-dipped desserts, digital menus and updated decor.

Dunkin Brands Group Inc. is based in Canton, Mass. The company’s Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins brands have more than 20,000 combined locations worldwide.
