John Hester has been named chief financial officer of Mama Fu’s, the company said Thursday.

The CFO role is new for the Austin, Texas-based Asian chain, but Hester replaces Lori Nauert, who held the title director of finance.

Most recently the controller and CFO for an Austin-based Wendy’s franchisee Pieces Foods LP, Hester’s prior experience includes work as corporate controller for Schlotzsky’s Inc., as well as a stint at Sysco.

“As we continue to strengthen our brand as a leader in the industry, John is an ideal addition to the team here to help direct and reflect that strength,” said Randy Murphy, president and chief executive of Mama Fu’s, in a statement.

Mama Fu’s was acquired from Raving Brands by Murphy Adams Restaurant Group in 2008. The chain has 15 locations and another 60 in development.

Mama Fu’s is known for its “Flex Casual” service model that includes a fast-casual format at lunch with transition to full service at dinner.
