A Starbucks executive was one of 25 people appointed by President Barack Obama to serve on the newly formed White House Council for Community Solutions.

Paula Boggs, Starbucks' executive vice president, general counsel and secretary, joins a group of people selected from the nonprofit, business and government sectors to solve specific community needs.

Boggs also serves as secretary of the Starbucks Foundation and is Washington state’s delegate to the American Bar Association’s House of Delegates. Previously, she was an executive at Dell Computer Corp. and a partner in the firm Preston Gates & Ellis. Boggs also served as a staff attorney at the White House in the late 1980s.

In addition to Boggs, the new White House council will include rock-and-roller Jon Bon Jovi, Tulane University president Scott Cowen, eBay Inc. chief executive John Donahue, and Revolution Foods co-founder and chief executive Kristin Richmond.
