The Limited-Service Restaurant category, including Burger, Mexican, Sandwich and other specialty chains, boasted five of the top 10 fastest-growing restaurant brands in the Top 100 universe based on year-over-year systemwide sales growth.
Firehouse Subs took the lead as the No. 1 growth chain, with a 33.6-percent jump in total U.S. sales. Its domestic results — $380 million in sales and 569 units for the Latest Year, which ended in December 2012 — put the brand at No. 100 when ranked by total sales. This is the first year Firehouse Subs made it into the Top 100 census.
