In 1987, Congress was reviewing a variety of initiatives impacting the restaurant industry including COBRA health coverage and worker discrimination due to illness.

Some initiatives are still in the forefront today such as federal minimum wage increases, parental leave for workers with newborn or newly adopted children and disclosure of all ingredients seen in the recent sodium labels being mandated in New York City.
