Elana “Lani” Hobson has been promoted to the newly created position of senior vice president of operations for Jack in the Box Inc., the company said Wednesday.

Hobson previously served as vice president of operations for San Diego-based Jack in the Box, overseeing all company and franchise operations.

She joined the company as a team member at a unit in Hayward, Calif. in 1977, over the years climbing the ranks from manager, to district and area manager, to regional and division vice president.

Hobson has played a key role in the development and execution of internal programs to improve service and guest satisfaction scores at Jack in the Box, as well as contributed to the achievement of 10 consecutive quarters of same-store sales growth at company-owned restaurants, said Lenny Comma, the company’s president and chief operating officer

Hobson also serves on the board of the nonprofit Jack in the Box Foundation, which supports a number of charitable organizations. She also serves on the boards of Natural High and the California Diversity Council.

Jack in the Box Inc. operates and franchises more than 2,200 namesake quick-service restaurants, as well as the more than 600-unit Qdoba Mexican Grill brand, based in Denver.
