From farmer to consumer, produce safety has come a long way in the six years since tainted spinach resulted in 205 confirmed illnesses and three deaths. But the recent cantaloupe crisis reminds us that the problem of ensuring a safe food supply is far from over. These crises should serve as a reminder: There can be no compromise when it comes to food safety.
