LOUISVILLE Ky. KFC has signed its first-ever sponsorship agreement with the National Football League to become the “Official Wing Sponsor” of this year’s NFL Playoffs and Super Bowl XLIII in February.
The sponsorship includes rights to depict the NFL shield and the Super Bowl XLIII logos on KFC’s wings buckets and on 32-ounce NFL promotional drink cups and other packaging. The sponsorship also includes TV spots, online presence and in-store signage.
Consumers who buy a 32-ounce drink in the promotional cup can qualify to win one of several prizes, including a trip to Super Bowl XLIV in South Florida in 2010, flat-panel TVs and NFL.com gift certificates.
KFC said it sells more chicken wings than any other restaurant and ranks as the only national chain offering wings at drive-thrus. KFC is a division of Yum! Brands Inc. with more than 14,000 units worldwide.
