SAN JOSE Calif. Pinkberry, the 60-unit, Los Angeles-based frozen yogurt chain, will open its first Northern California location this December at the upscale Santana Row retail and mixed-use center here, Santana Row administrators said.

The Pinkberry shop is opening in Santana Row Park, in a space now occupied by the concierge center for the Silicon Valley complex, which features high-end retailers, restaurants, hotels and residences.

Founded in 2005, Pinkberry now operates in Southern California and New York and is known for its signature tart yogurt. The chain also serves smoothies and shaved ice and recently introduced a drinkable version of its yogurt, called Granita.
