IRVINE Calif. Film and television writers on strike in Hollywood can win free Taco Bell food by writing “fun and fresh bits of wisdom” to be printed on the chain’s Border Sauce packets.

Irvine-based Taco Bell Corp. has offered members of the Writer’s Guild of America an opportunity to win a year’s supply of meals, valued at $260, if their witticism is among the best 10 selected. The deadline for submissions is Feb. 24.

Among the most famous of the sauce packet sayings include, “The road to mediocrity is littered with empty ketchup packets,” and “Use your stomach, nacho mind.”
