TEXARKANA Texas Looking to move guests through the drive-thru lane faster at his Big Jake’s BBQ restaurant here, owner Matt Palmer installed the Sharp UP-3500 touch-screen point-of-sale system from Sharp Electronics Corp.
“For us, the biggest advantage of upgrading to the UP-3500 is the ability to process orders in real-time. This gets our kitchen moving even before the full order is finished, which has dramatically cut down on average wait times for our customers,” Palmer said. He added that the touch-screen interface on the POS system recommended by dealer Knowles Business Machines is “user friendly” when training and more efficient than the interface for his last system, prompting him to purchase UP-3500 units for other restaurants.
The UP-3500 features a 12.1-inch diagonal LCD touch-screen display and can process orders for one- or two-window drive-thrus, representatives of Mahwah, N.J.-based Sharp said. The model also has store-and-recall features designed to enhance the efficiency of order entry.
