DENVER Quiznos is rolling out new, smaller portion flat-bread sandwiches called Sammies.
The sandwiches, priced at $2 each, come in four varieties: Sonoma Turkey, Italiano, Alpine Chicken and Bistro Steak Melt. They can also be ordered as part of a combo meal, which includes two Sammies, a drink and a side for $5.99, according to Quiznos’ website. The Sammies each have 300 calories or fewer, if ordered without cheese or sauce, the website indicates.
The new menu items were tested in some stores in Portland, Ore., and Indianapolis earlier this year before being quietly rolled out to restaurants around the country. A national rollout begins in earnest this month, said a Quiznos spokeswoman.
The Sammies are in response to customers’ demand for lower calorie, but flavorful items at a good value, said Steve Provost, Quiznos’ chief marketing officer.
