BELLEVUE Wash. Schwartz Brothers Restaurants, based here, is using Messageware Inc.’s Plus Pack software to boost the productivity of Microsoft Outlook Web Access, the mobile e-mail platform used by the operator, the vendor indicated.

An operator of six full-service restaurants, including the Daniel’s Broiler and Chandler’s Crabhouse concepts, a catering company and boxed-lunch business, Schwartz Brothers earlier chose Outlook Web Access, or OWA, for employees, customers and business partners e-mailing from the field. But users complained that OWA lacked some desirable functions found in the full-version Outlook they use in the office, such as global address lists, spell checking and dictionary editing, prompting the operator to try Plus Pack from Mississauga, Ontario-based Messageware.

“I was surprised at how well the global address feature worked,” said Noble Ferrero, Schwartz Brothers’ system administrator. “And the dictionary allows users to add words they use often, which is important when you’re dealing in exotic ingredients and menu items.”
