RICHMOND Va. To save money, The Tobacco Company Restaurant, here, has opted to use the new electronic payment processing service from technology vendor Radiant Systems Inc., management indicated.

"Having been a Radiant [point-of-sale system] customer for more than two years, we are now able to reduce operating costs by taking advantage of this new payment processing service from them," said Jack McGrath, controller for the multi-level, full-service restaurant in the historic Shockoe Slip district off the James River.

Alpharetta, Ga.-based Radiant, a provider of Web-based storefronts and gift cards for several years, said its payment card processing service is used by more than 5,000 retail and foodservice establishments. It said it offers competitively priced payment processing services to reduce the number of vendors with which its customers must deal and enhance transaction data security, among other client benefits, and, to achieve those goals, it has expanded its relationship with Royal Bank of Scotland's RBS WorldPay division.
