CORPUS CHRISTI Texas Quick-service burger chain operator and franchisor Whataburger Inc., based here, has selected for use a number of applications from Xpient Solutions LLC, according to the technology provider.

Officials of Charlotte, N.C.-based Xpient said the agreement covers the company's Intelligent Restaurant Information System, or IRIS, point-of-sale application, with integrated credit and debit card processing, as well as its back-office, eKitchen, eSign, Dashboard and Enterprise Data Manager products.

The Whataburger chain counts nearly 700 units, about 25 percent of which are operated by franchisees. Whataburger Inc. selected Xpient as a technology partner after a multivendor assessment and a pilot test, Xpient sources indicated.
