Dragon fruit, also known as pitaya or strawberry pear, is a red tropical fruit with green scales, the inspiration behind its moniker. The fruit has a slightly sweet taste and is most commonly used as a flavoring for beverages. It has experienced 136-percent growth on U.S. menus over the past four years and is best known among the Gen Z cohort.
