The Polar Express had its signature hot cocoa, and now Amtrak has its own hot beverage.

Dunkin’ Brands Group Inc. said this week it has rolled out its Dunkin’ Donuts Original Blend and Dunkin’ Decaf on board all Amtrak Northeast Corridor trains. The chain’s products are the only hot coffee brand being offered on these routes.

The move is an expansion of a partnership that saw the Canton, Mass.-based chain’s coffees added to Amtrak’s Acela Express routes in April.

Dunkin’ Brands’ coffees are now available to the approximately 12 million customers who ride Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor lines each year. The coffee is being served in first class and café’ cars, brewed using the same equipment featured in the more than 12,300 Dunkin’ Donuts locations worldwide.

"We're excited to expand our partnership with Amtrak and serve those traveling to more than 50 stops between Richmond, Va., and Boston, Mass.," said Brian Gilbert, Dunkin’ Brands senior director of new business development, in a statement. "Whether guests are traveling for business or leisure in the Northeast, they'll have Dunkin' Donuts hot coffee to keep them energized throughout the trip."

Thomas J. Hall, Amtrak’s vice president of passenger experience, said in a statement that the partnership “offers customers more of what they told us they want on board – variety, value and higher quality options.”

Amtrak is not Dunkin’ Brand’s first travel-based partnership. The chain has enjoyed what it says is a “successful partnership” with air carrier JetBlue Airways for more than a decade.
