OKLAHOMA CITY Sonic Inc., the 3,350-unit drive-in chain, is adding a line of premium coffee drinks on March 10.

The new drinks include a Java Chiller, made with a shot of espresso blended with soft-serve vanilla ice cream and a choice of mocha, caramel or hazelnut flavoring. Sonic also is debuting hot or iced lattes made with its premium dark roast coffee.

Customers also can now add a shot of espresso to any drink, an add-on the chain calls a Sonic Boom.

The new line debuts the Monday after the switch to daylight-saving time.

“Launching our new line of premium coffee drinks on Monday gives Americans a reason to roll out of bed after losing that extra hour of sleep," said Todd Townsend, chief marketing officer for Sonic.

To complement the coffee rollout, Sonic also is offering bite-sized cinnamon rolls called Cinnasnacks for a limited time.

“Coffee continues to be one of the fastest growing beverage categories in the business,” Townsend said. “We have designed our new line to fit a variety of flavor profiles.”
