LENEXA Kan. Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar has launched a video contest and will consider using the most entertaining submissions in future TV spots.

The contest is designed to build on the initial success of the chain’s “It’s a Whole New Neighborhood” national campaign, which broke in March and replaced the “Together is Good” campaign with its talking "spokesapple" spots.

The new campaign uses real-life videos. Diners may upload videos of their memorable moments at an Applebee’s restaurant to www.applebees.com/realvideos.

Applebee’s has nearly 2,000 units worldwide. Domestic same-store sales grew 0.5 percent in the first quarter ended March 31, the first quarter of positive growth in two years, according to parent company IHOP Corp.
