We’re starting to get a clearer look at Applebee’s accelerating innovation engine. The company today announced a new Whole Lotta Bacon Burger, featuring Applewood-smoked bacon seared into a beef patty and topped with three more slices of bacon and tangy bacon sauce. It is served on a brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and pickles, and with fries.

The company is offering the new burger for $9.99 for a limited time.

“If you love bacon, we’ve got the burger for you; our new Whole Lotta Bacon Burger,” CMO Joel Yashinsky said in a statement. “This burger has all your bacon bases covered …”

The new burger joins Applebee’s existing burger lineup, including the Bourbon Street Mushroom Swiss Burger, Neighborhood Burger, Impossible Cheeseburger, Quesadilla Burger, Whisky Bacon Burger, Classic Bacon Burger, Classic Cheeseburger, and Classic Burger.

It is the latest launch from a dizzying roster of tests 200 items long, facilitated by Chef Shannon Johnson, who joined the chain in September as vice president of culinary, and team. Previous introductions this year include new cocktails such as Mezcal Margaritas, and new Sizzlin’ Skillets. During a recent interview, Yashinsky teased plenty of new menu news coming each month this year, including news related to the chain’s wings and chicken platform.

“We have a pipeline of fun activations, menu items and promotions and we’re excited about that … I think is really going to set us up for a successful 2024 and 2025,” he said.

All of these promotions will focus on Applebee’s north star of providing value and earning guests’ visits, Yashinsky added.
