SPARTANBURG, S.C. Denny's has added two breakfast skillets for $5.99 each as part of its push to protect its turf in the morning daypart.
The Southwestern Sizzlin' Skillet features scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and fire-roasted onions and peppers and is served with warm tortillas, pico de gallo and sour cream. The more traditional Flatjack Sizzlin' Skillet includes scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon and hash browns, along with pancakes that Denny's encourages guests to fill and roll like they would tortillas.

Denny's launched its Real Breakfasts marketing push at the beginning of the year. The family-dining chain has faced increasing competition from quick-service players that have beefed up their a.m. offerings, which Denny's criticizes as "fake breakfasts."
