DALLAS Maggiano’s Little Italy has launched a dinner-for-two promotion for $40 for a limited time.

The three-course “Menu For Two,” available for dine-in guests at lunch and dinner, features a half-size appetizer or two side salads; two entrees; and a regular-sized dessert to share or four mini desserts.

With the “Menu for Two” promotion, Maggiano’s is introducing two new dishes: balsamic-glazed salmon baked on cedar paper and served with a Mediterranean orzo and pine nuts, as well as braised veal tossed with fresh-herb pasta, mushrooms, spinach and garlic and herb cheese.

Other entree options from the regular menu include chicken Romano with angel hair pasta, shrimp scampi and chicken-mushroom lasagna.

“In these hard economic times, it’s not easy to afford a meal out, but this chef-inspired menu showcases the very best Maggiano’s has to offer and at an affordable price,” said Edithann Ramey, director of marketing for the 44-unit Maggiano’s.

Over the past year, several casual-dining chains turned to value-priced bundled meals to drive traffic, including Applebee's, with its 2 for $20, and Maggiano's sister chain Chili's, which offered a 3 for $20 deal.

Maggiano's and Chili's are both owned by Dallas-based Brinker International Inc., which is also parent to On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina.
