INDIANAPOLIS The Steak n Shake Co., a 460-unit full-service burger chain based here, is adding a line of frozen-yogurt-based milk shakes. The 70-year-old retro chain said the new four-shake array will provide a lower-fat alternative to its signature hand-dipped shakes.

The four flavors — raspberry, strawberry, banana and strawberry banana — are available in junior, medium or large sizes for carryout or drive-thru customers, but in only two sizes for eat-in orders.

Patrons using the dining rooms can either have their shake in an old-fashioned parfait glass, or in a junior size, intended for children. The 24-hour concept operates in 19 states.
