Same-store sales soar during third quarter, but commodity costs were up 10% in period
Texas Roadhouse Inc. last week hiked menu prices 4.2% as its operators saw fast-increasing wage and commodity costs, the company said Thursday.
The Louisville, Ky.-based company, which owns the casual-dining Roadhouse and Bubba’s 33 as well as the fast-casual Jaggers, said sales momentum continued into the third quarter ended Sept. 28, with same-store sales up 30.2% from 2020 and 22.3% from 2019 at company-owned U.S. units. Same-store sales at franchise restaurants were even higher in the quarter, up 33.5% from 2020 and 20.4% from 2019.
“It is encouraging to continue to see our dining rooms busy while our to-go volumes remain elevated,” said Gerald Morgan, Texas Roadhouse president and CEO, in a third-quarter earnings call.
