Domino's, smaller brands stand apart as segment growth stagnates
Before the rise of the third-party app, delivery used to be synonymous with pizza. But now that the home-delivery market has ballooned to $795 billion and customers can order (practically) any food they can dream of, the top pizza brands need to transition to stay competitive.
While technology leaders like Domino’s Pizza and rising brands like MOD Pizza and Blaze Pizza continue to dominate industry headlines with impressive growth, the pizza industry as a whole has slowed. The number of chains with flat or decreasing unit counts doubled in the Latest Year, compared with the Preceding Year, and average domestic sales growth slowed to 5.1% in the Latest Year, from nearly 10% a year earlier.
