Chipotle Mexican Grill is putting a spin on its Super Bowl promotion this year, offering free guac and Queso Blanco on what it’s calling “Extra Sunday,” or Monday, Feb. 10 – the day after the game. The offer is good with the purchase of any entrée and is available exclusively on the Chipotle app and Chipotle.com using the Extra25 promo code.
The company said this is its first promotion giving customers the chance to get both free guac and free Queso Blanco at the same time. "Extra Sunday" is inspired by the high number of Americans who take the Monday following the Super Bowl off from work. In 2024, an estimated 16.1 million U.S. employees planned to miss work the day following the game.
"Football's most watched game is the perfect stage for over-the-top moments, and we're here to make it even more extra with free Chipotle," chief brand officer Chris Brandt said in a statement. "We're giving fans something to celebrate when the game is over – free guac and Queso Blanco – on 'Extra Sunday.'"
Chipotle is also launching an activation that will reward up to 50,000 free entrées to fans watching the game on Feb. 9 between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. When something "extra" happens during the game, Chipotle will drop a text-to-claim code via a tweet from @ChipotleTweets on X and a story from @Chipotle on Instagram. Examples of “extra” events include a fourth down conversion, a successful extra point kick, and two-point conversions. The first fans to text the designated code to 888-222 will receive a free entrée code from Chipotle, up to the maximum number in each post.
The 2024 Super Bowl was the most watched NFL championship game in the league’s history, with about 123 million people tuning in across platforms. The Super Bowl is also historically one of the most watched sporting events in the world. As such, several restaurant brands are launching promotions to get in front of the massive captured audience, including Applebee’s, Little Caesars, Taco Bell, and others.
